About SJ

SJ (b. Vermont 1979) is a multidisciplinary intuitive artist who works primarily in watercolors and gouache. Using water with her work is an integral part of her creative and therapeutic process, as it helps her move through emotions in an organic and healthy way.

Her work centers around the human experience and our collective connection to nature, with an emphasis on creating dreamscapes to provide warmth and magic to the viewer.

She has exhibited work in San Diego CA, Los Angeles, Austin TX and Seattle between 2015-2026. Her art is also part of a permanent collection at Gallerie Diderot in Orquevaux, France.  SJ received the Diderot Emerging Artist award at Chateau Orquevaux Artist Residency in Orquevaux, France (December 2022), returning to Chateau Orquevaux for her second residency in January 2026.

With an educational background in the Arts and Design, SJ aims to invoke creative storytelling from the past, present and future. 

SJ's most cherished art project to date has been creating all the art for the Tarot of Her, a luxury tarot deck she co-created with longtime friend Melissa LaFara. The process of creating the deck took roughly 3 years and was self-published in 2024, with first edition selling out in less than a month. 2nd edition is currently shipping worldwide and is becoming a favorite within the indie deck community.  

An all around creative, SJ believes in process over product. You will find no artificial intelligence here.

She currently lives in the Pacific Northwest, but regularly suffers from wanderlust.
